  • Provide an effective voice for member organisation

  • Ensure effective communication and knowledge sharing between member organisations, the Executive Committee, Child, Youth and Family and Family and Community Services (MSD)
  • Promote assistance to children, young people and their families through encouraging and promoting co-operation between member organisations, Child, Youth and Family, Family and Community Services (MSD) and other government departments
  • Foster and promote good practice
  • Provide information, resource material and support Regional training opportunities

NGA WHAINGA - OBJECTIVES

  1. To strengthen and increase membership of  Social Service Providers Aotearoa 

  2. To develop and maintain effective and influential working relationships relevant to Social Service Providers Aotearoa

  3. To maintain existing funding streams and to explore new funding streams for the long term sustainability of the Social Service Providers of Aotearoa

  4. To continue to develop and maintain an effective and cohesive National Executive committee

STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS

 

1. To strengthen and increase membership of Social Service Providers Aotearoa

 

  • Expand website to include Regional information

  • Expand membership and distribute membership  information pack to all new members

  • Publication of quarterly newsletter sent to members and  key Government Department

  • Encourage contributions to quarterly newsletter

  • Regular E Mail group contact to actively engage with the membership

  • Develop strong Regional networks and hold  regular regional meetings

  • Satisfaction survey to be circulated at Regional meetings annually

  • Satisfaction survey to be sent to membership on an annual basis

  • Promote representation of Regions on National Executive

  • Co-ordinate Best Practice Workshops and joint training opportunities

  • Regular communication through the Executive Officer position

  • Provision of annual conference for members and other interested stakeholders

 

2. To develop and maintain effective and influential working  relationships relevant to Social Service Providers, Aotearoa

  • Develop effective working  relationships with government organisations and Members of Parliament

  • Develop effective working relationship with National Umbrella Organisations

  • Develop effective working relationships with relevant Non Government Organisations

  • Develop awareness of any changes to the Social Service environment and be alert to new opportunities

3.   To explore new funding streams for the long term sustainability of Social Service Providers Aotearoa

 

 MEASURED BY

  1. Website maintained and regularly updated

  2. Annual Recruitment Drive

  3. Newsletter to be placed on website

  4. Regional Recruitment Drive

  5. Increased membership that reflects the diversity of the sector.

  6. Increased  awareness of the work of SSPA by the Social Service Sector and Government

  7. Newsletter published quarterly and distributed to members and key Government Department

  8. Newsletter contributions from Government Ministers, Member Organisations and Executive Committee

  9. Timely and appropriate communication (usually on a monthly basis) with Member Organisations via regular Group E-mail contact

  10. 10 Regional Meetings to be held annually (ideally a minimum of one meeting per year per region

  11. Evaluation of effectiveness of Regional Meetings to be undertaken annually

  12. A minimum of six Best Practice Workshops to be held annually and three joint training opportunities with Child, Youth and Family

  13. Executive Officer to provide quarterly report to Executive Committee

  14. Successful Annual Conference

  15. Regional voice represented to Government

  16. At least one meeting is held annually with Child, Youth and Family Regional Directors and  Family and Community Service (MSD) Regional Managers

  17. Quarterly meetings are held between Executive Committee and key staff in relevant Government and Non Government organisations

  18. Attendance at three Government CEO forums and other relevant Government meetings

  19. A minimum of two Executive Committee Meetings will have been attended by different Members of Parliament

  20. A minimum of two Executive Committee Meetings will have been attended by relevant Government and/or Non Government organisations

  21. At least one joint project will be undertaken with Child, Youth and Family and/or Community and Family Services (MSD)

  22. A minimum of one meeting will have been attended with NZCCSS, FVWA, COSS and other relevant National Organisations

  23. Ensure accountability and contractual obligations are met in a timely fashion

  24. Two new funding streams will have been identified

  25. Develop funding relationship with MSD

  26. Ensure a succession plan for National Executive is in place

  27. Executive members to attend all meetings

  28. Members to adhere to code of conduct

 

OUTCOMES

  • Social Service Providers Aotearoa is a recognisable voice for Member Organisations and Government Departments

  • Recruitment drive to target providers with CYFS or FACS contacts

  • Increase membership to 300 providers

  • Social Service Providers Aotearoa is accessible, has  increased public profile and is represented in a professional manner

  • Social Service Providers Aotearoa has a strong regional voice

  • Regional views are considered by the Executive Committee and Government policy makers

  • Regional networks are strengthened

  • Social Service Providers Aotearoa, is responsive to Best Practice needs in regions

  • Regular feedback to and from Regions

  • Partnerships between Government and Social Service Sector strengthened

  • Increased  Government awareness of Social Service Providers Aotearoa as a means of communication with the Social Service sector

  • A well informed Executive Committee with current political information relevant to the Social Services sector

  • Executive Committee is informed of Member Agency issues

  • Regional networks are strengthened by the addition of meetings held in Northland, Waikato, and Nelson/Marlborough regions

  • A well positioned and resourced Executive Committee is responsive to new opportunities as they arise

  • Funding base of Social Service Providers Aotearoa  has been broadened

  • Funding relationship has been developed with MSD

  • Regional representation on Executive encouraged

  • Executive members adhere to code of conduct
